BA Disaster Preparedness Seminar


Always First, Always Ready, Always There”

A school-based disaster reduction and management seminar was held last August 5, Friday, at the Little Theatre. The said event was headed by the BA’s Red Cross Team. This is a project of BA Red Cross Youth which aims to prepare the Bloomfieldians in the possible disaster to come. The event was divided into two sessions; 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. for the elementary and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the high school.


Kianna Kaniella Ngo, a Grade 10-Integrity student, and a member of Red Cross Youth hosted the said orientation.


Sir Ruel Carballo, the Club moderator for Red Cross Youth, gave opening remarks and introduced the guest speaker.


Mr. Manuel R. Santos Jr., a member of Philippine Red Cross Las Piñas subchapter, a volunteer and an instructor, was invited as a guest speaker to give a seminar on disaster risk reduction. He discussed the effects of typhoons and earthquakes that occurred in the Philippines. He also explained the safety measurements and procedures that the students must follow if there is a calamity.


The students actively participated by responding to the questions of Mr. Manuel Santos.


Towards the end of the seminar, an earthquake practice “Duck, Cover, Hold” was done by the students.



A certificate of recognition was handed to Mr. Manuel R. Santos, Jr. by Sir Ruel Carballo as a token for sharing his time and talent in sharing his expertise on the subject matter at hand.
