    Bloomfield Academy Elementary Curriculum

Mathematics: The Mathematics subject aims to help learners apply mathematical concepts and principles in real-life problem solving, critical thinking, decision-making, and communication, utilizing appropriate technology. The focus is on developing the learners’ skills in making connections and representations, reasoning, and appreciating mathematics.

We use Manipulatives, a hands-on approach that allows students to use objects or physical tools to explore ideas and concepts in a more tangible way. This innovative and effective approach is particularly useful in certain topics, as it promotes active learning and helps students better understand abstract concepts.

English: The goal of the Language Arts and Multiliteracies subject is to develop graduates who can apply language conventions, principles, strategies, and skills in interacting with others, understanding and learning other content areas, and functioning independently in various fields. This is achieved by teaching communication skills, promoting critical thinking, and encouraging self-reliance.

We have a one-of-a-kind, state-of-the-art Speech Laboratory that is available to students starting in Grade 1. The laboratory is designed to help students develop mastery in speaking and listening skills, as well as to improve their overall oral communication abilities. With the latest technology and expert guidance, our students have the opportunity to practice and refine their communication skills in a supportive and stimulating environment.

Science: The Science subject is inquiry-based and learner-centered, emphasizing the use of evidence to construct explanations. The focus is on helping learners understand basic science concepts and apply science-inquiry skills, while exhibiting scientific attitudes and values. The curriculum promotes problem-solving, innovation, environmental protection, resource conservation, and informed decision-making.

The science laboratories will be used to provide students with a more hands-on and immersive learning experience by conducting experiments and exploring topics related to the subject.

Mother Tongue 1, 2, and 3: Through the Mother Tongue subject, learners develop communication skills by expanding their vocabulary and phrases, demonstrating an understanding of spoken language, including verbal and non-verbal cues, and understanding the cultural aspects of language. They also learn to read and write literary and informational texts.

Arts and Music: The Arts and Music subjects focus on empowering learners to correlate music and art to their cultural identity and vision of the world. The curricula are student-centered, based on a spiral progression of processes, concepts, and skills, grounded in performance-based learning.

Physical Education: The PE subject develops skills in accessing, synthesizing, and evaluating information, making informed decisions, enhancing and advocating for their own and others’ fitness and health. The knowledge, understanding, and skills promote the competence, confidence, and commitment required of all students to live an active life for fitness and health.

Health: The subject aims for the learners to develop an understanding of how growth and development impact health practices to achieve and sustain optimum health and wellbeing.

[Araling Panlipunan seeks to equip learners with a deep understanding of the fundamental historical, geographical, political, economic, and social issues and concepts, moving beyond mere memorization of concepts and terminology. Its overarching goal is to foster critical thinking and practical application of knowledge in diverse contexts and real-world scenarios that are meaningful and relevant to learners and their communities.]

Through this subject, learners can develop a more profound appreciation for the interconnectedness of various facets of society and gain a deeper understanding of their roles and responsibilities as members of their communities.

Filipino: Layunin ng pagtuturo ng Filipino na malinang ang (1) kakayahang komunikatibo, (2) replektibo / mapanuring pag-iisip at, (3) pagpapahalagang pampanitikan ng mga mag-aaral sa pamamagitan ng mga babasahin at teknolohiya tungo sa pagkakaroon ng pambansang pagkakakilanlan, kultural na literasi, at patuloy na pagkatuto upang makaagapay sa mabilis na pagbabagong nagaganap sa daigdig.

[Filipino aims to develop students’ communicative abilities, critical thinking, and literary appreciation using various reading materials and technology to help them understand their national identity, and uphold cultural literacy and lifelong learning to keep pace with the changing world.]

EPP/Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE): This encompasses four fields: Home Economics, Industrial Arts, Agri-Fishery Arts, and Information, Communication, and Technology. The curriculum is experiential, contextualized, and authentic, emphasizing the development of students’ skills and values. It is integrative, applying concepts, skills, and values across various subject areas, including entrepreneurship. The focus is on active, hands-on learning that enables students to learn by doing.
The TLE Laboratory will be utilized as needed to facilitate a more hands-on, interactive, and engaging learning experience for students.

    MATH QUIZ BOWL 2024-2025

As part of Bloomfield Academy’s Science Olympics Activities, the much-
anticipated Math Quiz Bowl was held last March 18 and 20, 2025. The
event showcased the numerical skills and critical thinking of learners
    across all grade levels.
In the Grade School Department, each class was divided into four
houses—Earth, Fire, Water, and Wind. A qualifying exam was
administered, and the top scorer from each house represented their team
in the quiz bowl. The competition was a collaborative effort across grade
levels: Grades 1 and 2, Grades 3 and 4, and Grades 5 and 6 battled it out
in teams, cheering on their houses and solving math problems with speed
    and accuracy.

The Math Quiz Bowl continues to be a platform for learners to demonstrate
their mathematical talents and foster a healthy spirit of competition.
Congratulations to all our participants and champions!
